Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, said that Hamster Kombat, a tap-to-earn game where players act as a hamster CEO of a crypto exchange, will help bring blockchain to millions. According to Durov, 239 million people have signed up for the game.
Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, one of the most popular messaging apps, talked about the success of Hamster Kombat. He said that this tap-to-earn game, where players act as hamster CEOs of a cryptocurrency exchange, has gained 239 million users in just three months since its launch.
This game uses the mini-app protocol that Telegram introduced in 2020. It only recently started to become popular with tap-to-earn projects like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat. Durov emphasized that Hamster Kombat’s popularity helped it gain 100 million users in just 73 days. He also noted that the game attracts between four to five million new users daily, establishing it as the “most rapidly expanding digital service globally.”
Durov declared that this game will soon play an important role in demonstrating blockchain’s potential to all its users. On his Telegram channel, Durov stated:
Soon, Hamster’s team will mint its token on TON, introducing the benefits of blockchain to hundreds of millions of people.
He noted, ‘’A new era is arriving, and we are witnessing its arrival in real-time.’’ The game’s popularity in Iran has led authorities to view it as a ‘soft war’ tool employed by the West against Iran’s theocracy. According to reports from AP, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of Iran’s military, characterized the game as a distraction aimed at diverting Iranians’ attention from presidential proposals ahead of the elections.
While the exact date of the token airdrop for the game has yet to be announced, platforms are already starting pre-market trading in anticipation of its release.
